When you’ve successfully completed the Basic Keelboat course, the next step in your certification process is Basic Coastal Cruising. With this course, you’ll be able to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered (inboard or outboard engine) keelboat up to 35 feet length by day in moderate winds (up to 20 knots) and sea conditions. This course expands on your boating terminology to include cruising sailboat terminology. In addition, you will learn about basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather interpretation, safety and seamanship.
All our BCC103 classes are taught on the new Beneteau Oceanis 35, a stable and fast cruiser style sailboat. Her large cockpit and easy deck plan makes it a very comfortable learning platform. Plus, it’s easy to sail and fun!
Our comprehensive BCC 103 course consists of 4 days of training that includes both on the water time and classroom time. Each module is offered at least one time a month. All classes include:
