The SLC is accepted by all port authorities and yacht charter companies worldwide. More and more charter companies in the Caribbean are requiring licenses and the SLC is the preferred choice.

International Sailing License and Credentials (SLC)

We are authorized to provide training and licenses for the SLC, which is the only legal, American credential that is accepted internationally.  The SLC is the American alternative to the ICC (International Certificate of Competence).

What is the SLC:  The International Sailing License and Credentials (SLC) is a recreational sailing license that is valid for all yacht charter companies worldwide. To obtain your SLC, you must take knowledge courses and pass the tests appropriate for bareboat chartering, log sufficient sailing experience, and demonstrate sailing skills according to internationally established sailing standards. These courses are provide on-line fro you to do on your own time and at your own pace.

Why the SLC? The SLC is approved and recognized by the government and US Coast Guard as an approved certificate in the USA. For USA holders of the SLC, it serves as a government recognized USA Sailing License (because of the NASBLA and ANSI sailing standard requirement). Holding this license allows you to legally sail in every State and Territory of the United States. By virtue of reciprocity, holders are able to charter a sailboat in other countries all over the globe, including Greece and Italy.
