Sunglasses
What we look for in the best sailing sunglasses?
- Polarized: Polarized sunglasses cut out more glare than those non-polarized. There are different grades of film used and effective polarization technology varies by manufacturer.
- Water repellent coating: Additional anti-reflective coatings are a feature you will often find, while hydrophobic finishes help repel water – an obvious benefit when you’re afloat.
- UV protection: Don’t confuse tint with the level of UV protection. UV 400 is the maximum level of UV protection a pair of sunglasses can offer which cuts out 99% of UV rays.
- Comfort: If you want to minimize the amount of unfiltered light reaching your eyes from the sides, buy close-fitting or wrap-around styles. Larger lenses help protect the delicate skin around the eyes.
